My April reading wrap up was a pretty slim reading month for me and a few of them were continuations in a series. So this blog will be a much shorter post this time around!

Continuing on with the Throne of Glass series this month! Check out this blog post here where I discuss the premise of this series and how it all begins. In this blog, I rant and rave about the reading order of this series where I get SUPER passionate about this topic.

Heir of Fire is my favorite out of the series. There’s another one that comes pretty close but usually when I reflect back on this series, it’s this book I think about. I love that we almost take a slight pause on the overall story in this book. We get to stop with Celaena and journey with her through the hardships and watch as she pulls herself from the ashes. It’s a beautiful story and I love reading it every time!

This is the fourth book (excluding the novella) in the Throne of Glass series. I’ll be honest and say that I don’t really ever remember this one much in the grand scheme of things. Maybe it’s because the books have finally picked up enough that I fly through it to get to the next one. Either way, it’s not a bad book but it’s just one in the series that’s not as memorable to me. I will say though, that it’s still better than the first two slow pokes in the beginning of this series!

The last book I read in the month of April was a YA Fantasy written by a local author here in Orlando! I had the pleasure of meeting her at her signing event where I got to purchase the book and have her sign it for me. She was so lovely and I was so excited to read this book!

This is a duel POV novel following two best friends, Brenna and Katiel. They have been lifelong friends but actually live in two different kingdoms. When war threatens to break out due to a monarch being murdered, the two friends find a letter with some incriminating evidence. To their surprise, the person of interest in this crime is being framed in order to start a war. With Brenna’s brother about to enter the war as a soldier and her friendship with Katiel on the line, the two of them set off on adventure to try and stop this war.

Overall, I think this book just ended up not being for me. I think what I’ve realized, especially lately, is that I’m invested in stories that have more adult themes. This is very much a YA, cutesy story. I felt that some of the secondary relationships could have been developed further.

However, I loved the friendship between Katiel and Brenna. This author brought us a story line that’s not done often and I really appreciated that aspect. I want more books about friendship and found family as the focus, which is very much what this book was. All in all, I felt that it wasn’t really for me because it wasn’t tackling more mature themes that definitely could’ve been presented in this story.
