1. An idea for a book just won’t leave your head
You think about this book all the time. You see your characters everywhere. You’re itching to get the pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard, whatever writing style is your jam! If you’re playing out scenes in your head or smell the amazing bakery item you’ve created for this world or even smell the stink of the dragons as they laze about their perches waiting for their riders, then it’s time to write the book. When you can’t stop giggling to yourself the joke you see one of your characters saying to another, IT’S TIME TO WRITE THE BOOK!
2. You’ve created a color scheme, playlist, and even character bios (even it’s only in your head)
Same as above, you just can’t get this idea out of your head! But even more than that you’ve come up with a whole color scheme, you picture the cover and exactly how you want it to look, and have even created a playlist for your novel. Whether you’ve written any of this down or it’s just living in your head, the fact that you’ve concocted these wonderful themes means, you guessed it, it’s time to write the book!
3. You’re scared
Being scared means it’s something worthwhile, it’s something you care deeply about and don’t want to fail at. The thing is, you can’t fail unless you quit or don’t start. Sure, you’re going to hit bumps in the road, but that doesn’t mean you throw the car away. You keep going and keep pushing.
A wise kid once told my husband who then told me, you know you’re on the right path when it only gets tougher, just like in a video game. Now I don’t play video games, except for cozy things like Animal Crossing. But I have watched my husband play many times. Basically what happens is you know you’re going in the right direction in a game when you’re coming across harder and harder villains to fight. This leads to the ultimate boss battle where you fight the main villain. What it boils down to is when things get harder that only means you’re going in the right direction and that can often lead to feelings of being scared.
4. The book you are craving to read isn’t out there
If you have been hemming and hawing about the fact that there’s no book out there about a love story between dragons or there’s really no great book that contains friends to lovers to enemies, or any other scenario, then write it! What better person to tell the story you’ve been craving than you? Chances are, there’s someone else out there who’s thinking the same thing and they’re dying to give you their money so they can also have this content. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, IT’S TIME TO WRITE THE BOOK!
5. Now is the right time
